Old-Sock Safety Kit
Make a PPE kit with a pair of earplugs, a pair of glasses, and a pair of old socks.
When working in my shop, I have safety glasses and earmuff hearing protection at the ready near my power tool stations. But when traveling to and from job sites, my earplugs often get misplaced, and my safety glasses end up getting scratched while bouncing around in a toolbox or under the seat of the truck.
Finally, I got smart and made safety kits out of old socks. I cut the socks down so they wouldn’t be so long, and tucked a pair of glasses and a pair of earplugs, stored in a small plastic case, inside. The socks protect the glasses and pair the two most important pieces of PPE so they’re easy to locate. I’ve created several of these kits, which I keep in tool cases, in my truck, and in my pouch.
